first day at Fluke Networks. had some mixed emotions about de environment in de company. david came to pick us up at around 845. itz about 15 to 20 mins drive from our place to de office. de working hours in Fluke is flexible, so long you haf fulfilled 8 hrs. he showed us around and introduced everyone to us. some of them tot we were from china cuz we are chinese. and i gotta emphasize a few times dat we are from SINGAPORE. damn! not all chinese muz come from china k. grr..
everyone is friendly and warm, esp Carl [Systems Program Specialist], who is put to be in charge of us. he's very approachable and humorous. he laughs a lot and easily. haha. yawen and i are given a cubicle to do our work. in addition, each of us will be given a laptop to bring back to our apartment, but without internet access yet. pathetically, dere's only a dial up network in our room, no wireless. and david said he is actually on de lookout for another location for us to stay so dat it would be convenient for him or another colleague to send us to and fro de office. moreover, de new place we'll be staying at, is said to have more grocery marts and shopping malls around, unlike de old place which has nothing in de neighbourhood. BORING...
for lunch, we ate at Pan Acean restaurant with 6 other colleagues who are all men - middle aged men to be precise. haha. i had a huge bowl of japanese ramen while de rest of them had rice and a main dish. after which, headed back to office to do our work - surfing de internet. haha. not dat i'm trying to slack but nothing has been assigned to us yet. after a whole day of slacking, it was time to go home - 530pm. time flies when you slack. haha. carl was asked to drive us back as david had something else to do. on de journey back, chatted alot with carl. laughed a lot throughout cuz he was really damn funny. haha.
for dinner, i had cup noodles [tom yum flavour], omelette with sausages, campbell soup [chicken and mushroom chowder] and orange juice. all cooked by myself. haha. dinner was very satisfying even though de "main course" was cup noodles! Lol. after dat, watched some tv, played some games on my laptop den off to bed. Zz.

woke up at 7, which was much earlier than de previous day. well, i take quite long to get prepared and i tot david will come to fetch us quite early. who knows, when yawen called him, he said carl will come to fetch us instead as he had to hold a meeting in de office much earlier. went down at 9 to wait for carl. waited for 30 mins, still no sight of him. i sorta lost my cool and got pissed off. for info, we are standing under de hot sun, though we are under a shade. datz de best place for carl to pull over easily. told yawen i will wait in de room instead and so i went up. hate to be kept waiting for so long. on de other hand, i always keep pple waiting. haha. *bleah* carl arrived at 10 cuz he was informed at de last min to pick us up.
reached office around 1030 - carl usually arrives at dis time and knocks off late. settled down at our place, den went online to check emails and logged onto msn. well, dis is what i'm gonna do everyday at work, first thing in de morning. time flies really fast. after few hours of chatting and replying emails, it was lunch time. haha. went to a vietnamese restaurant called Pho. had rice noodles with beef flank and meatballs. finished everything though it was a huge serving. after lunch, headed back to office to continue surfing de net. yawen is obviously more hardworking than me; while i was busy chatting or checking emails, she was practising on de tutorials dat carl gave us to try out. i did work on de tutorials too. =P
after few hrs of slacking and working on de tutorial, i got damn bored and distracted. suggested to yawen to take photos with our colleagues. used her digital camera to take pics around de office. and got a few of our colleagues to join in for photo taking. haha. sorta distracted everyone from their work but i think they also needed a break lah. haha. knocked off at 6. carl sent us back again.
guess what's for dinner? had cup noodles again.. with Campbell soup [cream of mushroom]. cuz we are moving into our new hotel de next day, so in order to lighten our load, had to get rid of some food. david and linda [a lady who is in charge of administration, in her 50's i guess] have found us a new place in a very short time - efficient. haha. yah so after dinner, spent some time to pack up all our stuffs den went to bed. had a long day.

checked out of our apartment in de morning, with de help of david. after dat, we headed to office. lunch time, went to Marshall's Bar-B-Q. itz self service in dis restaurant. i had turkey, chicken, a little bit of pasta, beans and fries. seemed quite a lot huh. i couldn't finish de beans and chicken. haha. took too much. after which, as usual back to office. mag, now i understand how boring u feel in de office 9-5, 5 days a week. damn! carl was quite busy with some projects, so he din really assign us to anything yet.
after work, had dinner at david's place, with his family. his wife is a chinese, if i din hear wrongly, she is a taiwanese but de way she speaks seemed more like an ABC. haha. his wife's aunt was dere too - she's a PR in america. she cooked really nice chinese food for us. felt so at home. took photos around de house and with them too.
after dat, went to check into our new hotel, which is about 15 mins drive from david's place. itz smaller than de previous place we stayed at, but we will move again next month, to another room which will have 2 beds. de current room has only 1 bed and a sofa sleeper. yawen and i took turns to sleep on de bed; played scissors paper stone to determine who will sleep on de bed first and i won. i will switch with her after a week. haha. now in dis hotel, dere is a wireless network so dat means i can log on to de internet finally. unfortunately, we haven gotten our wireless network card from office.

david is outta town for biz so linda came to pick us up instead. had breakfast at de hotel lobby area. de food ain't to my liking. eeks. not gonna eat dere anymore unless i run out of food in my room. heh. during lunch, linda brought us to Schlotzsky's Deli. had 'The Original' sandwich. the bread is made from a special recipe and it tasted real good.
after work, went grocery shopping with linda, at Kroger. bought quite a lot of stuffs to stock up our supplies. after which, headed back to our hotel. yawen cooked herbal chicken soup, vermicelli and vegetables for dinner. after dat, had ice cream for dessert. haha. i sure know how to enjoy life huh. Lol.

nothing much happened. was in office 9-6. lunch at Pan Acean again. saw a good-looking caucasian guy, who was sitting diagonally opposite me. haha. finally can see some hunks after a week in Dallas. after work, linda sent us back. had de leftovers from de previous dinner - herbal chicken soup, and i cooked instant noodles. too bad i'm not apt to cooking, can't cook a variety of dishes. boo hoo~
oh ya, almost forgot. i finally got my wireless card!! so it means i can surf de net in my room. stayed up till 330am - msn, blogging, friendster. haha.

david called at about 9am to say dat he will come over to bring us out at 11+. apparently i was still sleeping since i slept at 330am last night. told yawen to let him know i was still in bed and postponed de time to 1230pm instead. woke up at 11, very tired still. david brought us out for lunch and shopping. his wife and daughters came along too. first, we went to Fry's cuz yawen said she wanna browse around some IT stuffs to compare de prices between here and sg. i bought cd-r -- 100 pieces for US14bucks. quite reasonable. after which, went to a vietnamese restaurant for lunch. den to Grapevine Mills for some SHOPPING!! haven done any shopping for a few weeks. dis is de time to compensate what i have missed out.
Grapevine Mills is as big as suntec. juz dat suntec has 2 levels, Grapevine only has 1 level. but itz really big, probably de combined levels of suntec. they have Forever 21, Nine West, Levis, Abercrombie and Fitch, Old Navy etc. david's wife shopped with us while he went to a bookstore with anna (she loves books).
spent de longest time in Forever 21 cuz the clothes are quite cheap and nice. de lowest price is around US 10bucks. their shop area is twice dat in sg. i love dis shop. they have a colourful range of clothes and bags which are so attractive. saw a brown zipped up jacket which i like. it costs US19.80bucks. was so tempted to buy but i held back. haha. cuz dere are many more jackets in de shop. looked around for about an hour before i proceeded to other shops. went to Abercrombie and i saw dis short white skirt which i tot was nice. but it doesn't have my size! itz a sales item so i suppose all my sizes muz have been grabbed. sigh.. was at Levis, and i checked out dat de jeans cost 20-30bucks cheaper than in sg. haha. din see any nice pair of jeans though.
came across Urban Planet which sells nice clothes too, and de prices are reasonable. bought a top dere, which costed me US13bucks. hee. was so tempted to get de brown jacket at Forever 21 still. but i decided not to cuz de jacket fits me juz nice, and i'm afraid it might shrink after wash. anyway i still have plenty of time to shop since i will be in texas for another 2 months plus. haha.
after dat, walked around some more before we settled into Rainforest Cafe for dinner. david has reserved a table. i ordered pizza while yawen ordered fish and chips. she was craving for fish cuz we have been eating a lot of meat for de past few days but not fish meat. de pizza was great. 4 types of cheese blended into de pizza. hmm yummy! i love cheese to bits. haha. couldn't finish our food so we takeaway. guess i will have pizza for lunch de next day.
